Free nationwide peer-support service providing information, resource referrals and support to people living with a mental health condition, their family members, caregivers, mental health providers, and the public. HelpLine staff and volunteers are experienced, well-trained and able to provide guidance.

LD Resources Foundation Action – A non-profit organization that helps find solutions to those who are affected by learning disabilities, dyslexia and ADHD. Provides resources to adults, teenagers and children, as well as their parents and educators, with a special focus on the needs of low-income households.

  • HelpGuide – Provides helpful strategies for coping with various kinds of grief and loss.
  • The Dougy Center – National Center for Grieving Children and Families. Has tons of free resources and you can join an online support group.
  • GriefShare – A friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Find groups that meet online and in person. 

Wendt Center for Loss and Healing – Specialized counseling does cost money per session, however this website contains multiple resources for all ages that are free to use.

  • Addiction Center – 24/7 hotline that provides guidance and access to treatment centers.
  • Addiction Help Today – Call for guidance from specialists, including nearby rehab facility information. This site also has plenty of information about addiction, various substances, and treatment.
  • Alcoholics Anonymous – Resources and support groups available all over the nation.
  • HelpGuide – Differentiates between alcohol and drug use and provides pragmatic suggestions on how to overcome them.

Trauma
  • HelpGuide – Provides general information on PTSD, as well as specifics on PTSD for veterans, those coping with psychological trauma, and how to help both adults and children coping with PTSD. 
  • PTSD United – Free resource that provides an online community group so that you can get connected with people who have been there.
  • SAMHSA Disaster Distress Helpline – 24/7 crisis counseling and support to those who have experienced emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. 

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs PTSD – Information on understanding PTSD, as well as connecting veterans with VA support resources.

  • Foundation for Women Warriors – Provides programs for women veterans such as connections for affordable housing, employment, professional development, child care assistance, grants, and workshops on transitioning from active duty.

  • Male Survivor of Sexual Assault – MaleSurvivor is a non-profit, public benefit organization committed to preventing, healing, and eliminating all forms of sexual victimization of boys and men through support, treatment, research, education, advocacy, and activism.
