The 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is officially here, unlocking opportunities for students attending college or career school between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.

  • Already submitted during beta testing? Great news! Your form is processed and good to go.
  • Submitting now? Expect a 1–3 day processing time. After that, you’ll receive your FAFSA Submission Summary, and your chosen schools will get your information.

Before You Apply: Get Prepared

Being ready can save you time and stress. Here’s how to set yourself up for FAFSA success:

  1. Create a StudentAid.gov Account
    If you don’t already have one, now’s the perfect time to create your account. This account is your hub for everything FAFSA. If you don’t already have one, create it today!
  2. Gather Important Documents
    Make sure you have everything you need, including tax returns, W-2s, and other financial documents. Having these handy makes the application process quicker and more accurate.
  3. Understand Your Dependency Status
    Determine whether you are considered a dependent or independent student (this determines whose financial information you’ll need). Need to Make Changes?

Life happens, and your FAFSA form can be updated to reflect it. Whether you need to:

  • Add more schools
  • Fix an error
